A LETTER FROM A YOUNG GIRL TO JRD TATA

[Mr. Narayan Murthy with his wife Mrs. Sudha Murthy ]

This is the stuff legends are made of..Worth a read..

THE GIRL WRITING AS HERSELF....

It was probably the April of 1974. Bangalore was getting warm and gulmohars were blooming at the IISc campus. I was the only girl in my postgraduate department and was staying at the ladies' hostel. Other girls were pursuing research in different departments of Science. I was looking forward to going abroad to complete a doctorate in computer science. I had been offered scholarships from Universities in the US... I had not thought of taking up a job in India.

One day, while on the way to my hostel from our lecture-hall complex, I saw an advertisement on the notice board. It was a standard job-requirement notice from the famous automobile company Telco (now Tata Motors)... It stated that the company required young, bright engineers, hardworking and with an excellent academic background, etc.

At the bottom was a small line: 'Lady Candidates need not apply.' I read it and was very upset. For the first time in my life I was up against gender discrimination.

Though I was not keen on taking up the job, I saw it as a challenge. I had done extremely well in academics, better than most of my male peers... Little did I know then that in real life academic excellence is not enough to be successful?

After reading the notice I went fuming to my room. I decided to inform the topmost person in Telco's management about the injustice the company was perpetrating. I got a postcard and started to write, but there was a problem: I did not know who headed Telco

I thought it must be one of the Tatas. I knew JRD Tata was the head of the Tata Group; I had seen his pictures in newspapers (actually, Sumant Moolgaokar was the company's chairman then) I took the card, addressed it to JRD and started writing. To this day I remember clearly what I wrote. 'The great Tatas have always been pioneers. They are the people who started the basic infrastructure industries in India, such as iron and steel, chemicals, textiles and locomotives they have cared for higher education in India since 1900 and they were responsible for the establishment of the Indian Institute of Science. Fortunately, I study there. But I am surprised how a company such as Telco is discriminating on the basis of gender.'

I posted the letter and forgot about it. Less than 10 days later, I received a telegram stating that I had to appear for an interview at Telco's Pune facility at the company's expense. I was taken aback by the telegram. My hostel mate told me I should use the opportunity to go to Pune free of cost and buy them the famous Pune saris for cheap! I collected Rs 30/- each from everyone who wanted a sari when I look back, I feel like laughing at the reasons for my going, but back then they seemed good enough to make the trip.

It was my first visit to Pune and I immediately fell in love with the city.

To this day it remains dear to me. I feel as much at home in Pune as I do in Hubli, my hometown. The place changed my life in so many ways. As directed, I went to Telco's Pimpri office for the interview.

There were six people on the panel and I realized then that this was serious business.

'This is the girl who wrote to JRD,' I heard somebody whisper as soon as I entered the room. By then I knew for sure that I would not get the job. The realization abolished all fear from my mind, so I was rather cool while the interview was being conducted.

Even before the interview started, I reckoned the panel was biased, so I told them, rather impolitely, 'I hope this is only a technical interview.'

They were taken aback by my rudeness, and even today I am ashamed about my attitude. The panel asked me technical questions and I answered all of them.

Then an elderly gentleman with an affectionate voice told me, 'Do you know why we said lady candidates need not apply? The reason is that we have never employed any ladies on the shop floor. This is not a co-ed college; this is a factory. When it comes to academics, you are a first ranker throughout. We appreciate that, but people like you should work in research laboratories.

I was a young girl from small-town Hubli. My world had been a limited place.

I did not know the ways of large corporate houses and their difficulties, so I answered, 'But you must start somewhere, otherwise no woman will ever be able to work in your factories.'

Finally, after a long interview, I was told I had been successful. So this was what the future had in store for me. Never had I thought I would take up a job in Pune. I met a shy young man from Karnataka there, we became good friends and we got married.

It was only after joining Telco that I realized who JRD was: the uncrowned king of Indian industry. Now I was scared, but I did not get to meet him till I was transferred to Bombay. One day I had to show some reports to Mr Moolgaokar, our chairman, who we all knew as SM. I was in his office on the first floor of Bombay House (the Tata headquarters) when, suddenly JRD walked in. That was the first time I saw 'appro JRD'. Appro means 'our' in Gujarati. This was the affectionate term by which people at Bombay House called him. I was feeling very nervous, remembering my postcard episode. SM introduced me nicely, 'Jeh (that's what his close associates called him), this young woman is an engineer and that too a postgraduate.

She is the first woman to work on the Telco shop floor.' JRD looked at me. I was praying he would not ask me any questions about my interview (or the postcard that preceded it).

Thankfully, he didn't. Instead, he remarked. 'It is nice that girls are getting into engineering in our country. By the way, what is your name?'

'When I joined Telco I was Sudha Kulkarni, Sir,' I replied. 'Now I am Sudha Murthy.' He smiled and kindly smile and started a discussion with SM. As for me, I almost ran out of the room.

After that I used to see JRD on and off. He was the Tata Group chairman and I was merely an engineer. There was nothing that we had in common. I was in awe of him.

One day I was waiting for Murthy, my husband, to pick me up after office hours. To my surprise I saw JRD standing next to me. I did not know how to react. Yet again I started worrying about that postcard. Looking back, I realize JRD had forgotten about it. It must have been a small incident for him, but not so for me.

'Young lady, why are you here?' he asked. 'Office time is over.' I said, 'Sir, I'm waiting for my husband to come and pick me up.' JRD said, 'It is getting dark and there's no one in the corridor.

I'll wait with you till your husband comes.'

I was quite used to waiting for Murthy, but having JRD waiting alongside made me extremely uncomfortable.

I was nervous. Out of the corner of my eye I looked at him. He wore a simple white pant and shirt. He was old, yet his face was glowing. There wasn't any air of superiority about him. I was thinking, 'Look at this person. He is a chairman, a well-respected man in our country and he is waiting for the sake of an ordinary employee.'

Then I saw Murthy and I rushed out. JRD called and said, 'Young lady, tell your husband never to make his wife wait again.' In 1982 I had to resign from my job at Telco. I was reluctant to go, but I really did not have a choice. I was coming down the steps of Bombay House after wrapping up my final settlement when I saw JRD coming up. He was absorbed in thought. I wanted to say goodbye to him, so I stopped. He saw me and paused.

Gently, he said, 'So what are you doing, Mrs. Kulkarni?' (That was the way he always addressed me.) 'Sir, I am leaving Telco.'

'Where are you going?' he asked. 'Pune, Sir. My husband is starting a company called Infosys and I'm shifting to Pune.'

'Oh! And what will you do when you are successful.'

'Sir, I don't know whether we will be successful.' 'Never start with diffidence,' he advised me 'Always start with confidence. When you are successful you must give back to society. Society gives us so much; we must reciprocate. Wish you all the best.'

Then JRD continued walking up the stairs. I stood there for what seemed like a millennium. That was the last time I saw him alive.

Many years later I met Ratan Tata in the same Bombay House, occupying the chair JRD once did. I told him of my many sweet memories of working with Telco. Later, he wrote to me, 'It was nice hearing about Jeh from you. The sad part is that he's not alive to see you today.'

I consider JRD a great man because, despite being an extremely busy person, he valued one postcard written by a young girl seeking justice. He must have received thousands of letters everyday. He could have thrown mine away, but he didn't do that. He respected the intentions of that unknown girl, who had neither influence nor money, and gave her an opportunity in his company. He did not merely give her a job; he changed her life and mindset forever.

Close to 50 per cent of the students in today's engineering colleges are girls. And there are women on the shop floor in many industry segments. I see these changes and I think of JRD. If at all time stops and asks me what I want from life, I would say I wish JRD were alive today to see how the company we started has grown. He would have enjoyed it wholeheartedly.

My love and respect for the House of Tata remains undiminished by the passage of time. I always looked up to JRD. I saw him as a role model for his simplicity, his generosity, his kindness and the care he took of his employees. Those blue eyes always reminded me of the sky; they had the same vastness and magnificence.

India..symbol of secularism, unity & brotherhood

(A Muslim lady taking her young son to school to participate in a Janmashtami function....)

Indian Rupee to get a new sign..

So finally the news has come and the symbol made public..

Indian Rs. is getting a symbol (as shown above) which is a mixture of Devnagari script's alphabet "Ra"(Devanagari script is the script in which most of the Indian languages like Sanskrit, Hindi, Bhojpuri, Marathi, Gujarati etc. are written)and Roman Script's alphabet "R"(Roman script is the script in which English, German etc are written).

The growing Indian economic conditions led it to have a symbol to differentiate the Indian Rupees from the currencies used by Pakistan (Pakistan Rupee), Nepal (Nepali Rupee), Sri-Lanka (Sri-Lankan Rupee) and Indonesia (Rupiah).

Now, Indian currency will join the selected few currencies of the world which are having their own symbol. After US Dollar, UK Pound, Japaneese Yen and EU's Euro, Indian Rupee will be the fifth currency to have this distinction.

Nationwide Bandh..

India and Indians are preparing themselves for a nationwide bandh which has been called on by all the opposition parties against the issue of "Price Rise" on 5th of July 2010.
According to the newspaper report which i read in the morning.. it is believed that the effects of Bandh will be felt mostly in those states which are governed by Non-UPA parties.

Generally i do not support these "Bandhs" but the ruling central government has miserably failed in controlling the issue of price rise even when they boast of having an Economist as a Prime-Minister (Dr. Manmohan Singh) and an extremely learned Finance Minister (Mr. Pranab Mukherjee).

Dr. Singh is the most learned head of state in the present times which is a fact and it can't be disputed. Even American President Mr. Barack Obama hears him silently as a student whenever they meet in bilateral talks. This thing has been reported by the American Media itself.

But, I feel Dr. Singh has failed miserably in controlling the food grain prices as well as the Fuel prices. It was reported by some of the news channels that Food grains are getting wasted up, rottening in the godowns but the government is not acting proactively to check all these. Some months back the Sugar prices jumped up to touch new heights and later it was found and reported by news-channels that a huge amount of Sugar is kept in the godowns at the sea-ports.

When the "aam-aadmi" ....the mostly used term by the Congress party was just gearing himself for the food grain price rise that suddenly Mr. Mukherjee came up with his statement that the Government is going to remove its control from Petrol, Diesel and LPG thereby suddenly increaing the prices of these essential commodities.

The government has done extremely wrong thing by taking this step when they fully understand that Petro price hike has a spiralling effect on every other thing.

I feel its a correct stance which is being taken by the Opposition parties in a united manner to campaign against such unyielding government.

Congress has a punch line which says: "Congress ka Haath.. Aam-Aadmi ke Saath" but now i feel that "Congress ka Haath is not Aam-aadmi ke saath but Aam-Aadmi ki Jeb ke saath"

Issue of Stone pelting

For last few days it has been a common scene in the news bulletins all over..whenever there is some news about Kashmir.... the visuals generally show the so called "angry protesters" (mostly youths who even don't know what they are doing) pelting stones on the security personnels (Police and Paramilitary) who in turn try to prevent the mob from doing any harm to government properties with baton and tear-gas shells !!

It is very clear that these stone-pelters are being paid for doing this from various "agencies" (many from across the border too) as was stated by the State chief minister and many news papers. Hence their demands (stone pelters)are nothing but they are just puppets in the hands of these separatists who in turn are getting orders from their foreign masters. These stone pelters are just interested in earning money and for some else it has been justified by their religion. And if in cross stone pelting some kashmiri youth dies then these separatists like Syed Ali Shah Geelani and others get a chance to malign the security personnels.

Such stupids who eat and live in India but serve their masters somewhere else should not be given any mercy..those who support such mad stone pelting and compare it with Intifada and Palestine like protest should be ready to receive an Israel like repercussion from the Indian military.

There is only one solution for these stupids.... BULLET.

Kashmir: From the perspective of a common Indian (Part III)

The three parties which are associated in this issue revolving around Kashmir have their own perspectives for it.

Perspective of China:

China wants its connectivity with Xinjiang province to be emboldened hence it wants to have only those parts of kashmir which are geographically connected to its Northern province of Xinjiang (Aksai Chin)

Perspective of Pakistan:

Pakistan wants to secure its water resources for the future hence it wants to capture the origin of its most precious river i.e. Indus and its tributaries.

Perspective of India:

The state of Jammu and Kashmir is a part of Indian Union with a valid proof (i.e. Instrument of Accession signed by the king of Jammu & Kashmir himself).

Some points to ponder:

a) If Pakistan Government says that they are worried about Kashmiri's then why they have acceded the part of land (Shaksgam Valley) which belongs to the Kashmiri's to the Chineese ??

b) Why does Pakistan only shows concerns for the Kashmiri Muslims but never has voiced its concerns for the Kashmiri Pandits ??

There are many issues which are associated with Kashmir and hence needs more attention and not just the military presence on the Indian side of the border. I've just tried to be precise on certain issues and it is one of my humble try to focus on the important issues of Kashmir.

Kashmir: From the perspective of a common Indian (Part - II)

The claims against Jammu and Kashmir being an Indian territory is generally dependent on the Pakistani belief that Maharaja Hari Singh, the then King of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir was not the true representative of the J&K regions populace, as he was a Hindu King and the Kashmir region had the majority Muslim population.
If such is the belief on which Pakistani claims are based then i don't know what is their stance on Gilgit-Baltistan region with majority Shia population as opposed to Pakistan's majority Sunni population.

Pakistani authorities claim that citizens of Indian Kashmir are harassed by Indian army but they never mention that they have taken all the rights of the Gilgit-Baltistan (Northern Areas) and the Pakistani occupied territory of Kashmir (Azad Kashmir) region. Even the wikipedia states:

"Pakistan as an Islamic Republic imposes multiple restrictions on peoples religious freedom in areas of Kashmir under its control. Shias and Ismailis are subject to discrimination and have been targets of sectarian violence. The majority of population of Northern Areas is Shia unlike rest of Pakistan which is majority Sunni. The constitution of Azad Kashmir specifically prohibits activities that may be prejudicial to the states accession to Pakistan and as such regularly suppresses demonstrations against the government."

Kashmir: From the perspective of a common Indian

Kashmir..the name itself is so beautiful that it evokes sensation, interest and respect.
Since childhood, i've heard this saying about Kashmir:

"Agar Dharti par kahin swarg hai....toh yahin hai..yahin hai..yahin hai !!"
(If there is any heaven on earth then it's here..it's here..it's here *at kashmir*)

I exactly don't know that when was this statement first used or said..but i feel it was written in Kalhan's book "Rajtarangini" for the first time which deals with the Hindu Kingdom of Kashmir and the present day SWAT region of Pakistan (though i haven't read this book hence whatever i know is what i've heard about it)
Even it is mentioned in most of the places that to present a wrong picture of Hindu Kings the compilation has been changed many times by some Muslim rulers too (but again i would like to say that i've only read it somewhere on internet hence can't authenticate)

About 200 years before independence, it was under Sikh confederacy, which included areas of present Indian Kashmir, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir,Aksai Chin, some areas of NWFP (present day Pakistan) and areas of Indian and Pakistani Punjab. Hence what can be observed is that "Kashmir" as a separate province or principality had never been there in existence. Even the present status of Jammu and Kashmir region (including Indian Kashmir, Pakistani Kashmir and Chineese kashmir plus the area ceded by Pakistan to China) was the area which came into existence after various British annexations from various small kings.
Hence the Kashmir upto the reign of Maharaja Hari Singh was not only Kashmir but the whole Jammu and Kashmir region.

After independence when Kashmir wanted to remain free..and didn't wanted to join either India or Pakistan, India accepted the idea but Pakistan had some other plans. They wanted to overrun and attack the Jammu and Kashmir region and hence had a nefarious plan made out too.
They did exactly what they are doing now also. They sent their army under the garb of local tribesmen and presented that its the mujahideen who are attacking..which clearly shows their double-game over Kashmir since 1947.
These so-called warriors or mujahideens killed lacs of innocent people and raped thousands of women. When the Kings army found it difficult to fight with a mightier force..he asked for help from India and accepted the plan of the then Governor General Of India Lord Mountbatten and signed the Instrument of Accession which made India to protect the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir from the plight.

Thus it is the legal document which proves that the whole Jammu and Kashmir is Indian region.
(*to be continued*)

(P.S.: This is my personal view regarding the history of the State of Jammu and Kashmir with reference to all which I have read or heard somewhere and hence is not the authorised version of any organisation, state or country)

Incredible India !!

“India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grandmother of tradition. Our most valuable and most instructive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only.” Mark Twain

“There are some parts of the world that, once visited, get into your heart and won’t go. For me, India is such a place. When I first visited, I was stunned by the richness of the land, by its lush beauty and exotic architecture, by its ability to overload the senses with the pure, concentrated intensity of its colors, smells, tastes, and sounds. It was as if all my life I had been seeing the world in black and white and, when brought face-to-face with India, experienced everything re-rendered in brilliant technicolor.” Keith Bellows (Editor-in-chief, National Geographic Society)

CAT results out !!

so finally CAT 2010 results are out and the 3 lacs or so students who appeared in it can now have access to their results....
access to their results..wait a minute !!

how is it possible..since we all are very much aware of the perennial phenomenon of system crashes and excessive traffic on the server and website making it pretty difficult for every candidate to download their result.

this makes me wonder that, how come these big business schools who are running this business of business schools with elan can't find a solution to this perennial problem..they say that they are the best in the breed and provide the best management courses but i doubt their claim when every year they have these problems coming up..which are nothing but a sign of pure MISMANAGEMENT.

so the business schools which are showing their incompetence year after year in solving such a simple problem will be giving important management lessons to the budding managers !! (*smile*)

One more thing which i don't like in these management schools and their tall claims of being best B-schools is that....why can't the business managers who passed out from these institutes and who are getting placed in big corporate houses like "Lehmann Brothers", Freddie Mac etc. were not able to prevent their downfall during recession..since most of the employees working in these corporate giants were passed out from such famous B-schools only..isn't it ??

(P.S.: I am not against these B-schools but their are certain issues like some stated above which needs to be resolved and which needs to be taken care of while preparing the list of Top 10 or Top 20 or whatever ranking system there is in the world.

Though I am a management graduate but not from such Big Boasting B-school's)

The Imperfect world

God was in the process of creating the universe. And he was explaining his subordinates...

"Look everything should be in balance.
For example, after every 10 deers there should be a lion. Look here my fellow angels,
here is the country of the United States I have blessed them with prosperity and money.
But at the same time I have given them insecurity and tension...

And here is Africa. I have given them beautiful nature.
But at the same time, I have given them climatic extremes...

And here is South America. I have given them lots of forests.
But at the same time, I have given them lesser land so that they would have to cut off the forests...
So you see fellows, everything should be in balance.

One of the angels asked... "God, what is this extremely beautiful country here?"
God said....... "Ahh...that is the crown piece of all.
"INDIA", my most precious creation.
It has understanding and friendly people.
Sparkling streams, serene mountains.
A culture which speaks of the great tradition that they live.
Technologically brilliant and with a heart of gold...

The angel was quite surprised "But god you said everything should be in balance."

God replied - "Look at the neighbours, I gave them !!

Holi : Solution to food-grain price rise !!

So the festival of colours has come, marking the end of winters and the harvesting season has started !!!! feels so nice.. yeah that is the sole reason why festivals are there for human-beings.. to feel happy and celebrate the efforts which they have put in for so long....

so we can expect that with the new crops (Rabi crops) coming up in the market.. the food-grain prices will come down and will give some cheers to nearly every citizen of our country....thus this Holi will be having greater essence and importance in the common men's life who are suffering from the price rise !!

May our expectations come true and may this festival of colour add colours to everyone's life.... till then:

Hindi Teleserials = Chewing Gum

I wanted to write on this particular issue since long..but was refraining myself that probably good sense will prevail in the Hindi serial directors & producers but after such a long wait....nothing of that seems in the horizon also !!

To be very clear at the outset itself.. I am not a fan of any Hindi T.V. serial but 'am not against them also.... since they appeal and generate interest in many other people.
After the demise of the teleserials made by our very own soap-queen (K)Ekta Kapoor, it was thought that there will be some new series on offer whereby stories will end when the main plot on which the story revolves is revealed..
It all started-off well with new directors providing new stories based on new themes and new plots....they got huge fan followings too.. but probably these directors and producers do not understand that it is better to wrap up a show(product) when it is on the Maturity phase of its life cycle 'cuz that makes the teleserial to be remembered even after ages of its end (for instance "Ramayana", "Mahabharata", "Buniyaad", "Hum-Log", "Chandrakaanta", "The Jungle Book" etc.)

Some people have a different say to that and they differ to my point saying that we are having lot many "Reality Shows" coming up these days..i respect this point of view and those shows had been respected too like "Kaun Banega Crorepati", "MTV Roadies", "Indian Idol" but again in this genre of "Reality T.V." shows there are so many stereotypes which came and are coming up everyday, which on the pretext of reality are interested in showing vulgarity like "Emotional Attyachar" or are just trying to give the same product in a new bottle, like "Iss jungle se mujhe bachao" and numerous songs and dance shows !!

We can only expect that a good sense will prevail and we will be able to watch some masterpiece in coming years....

Mahakumbh - 2010, Haridwar (India)

Ardha Kumbha and Maha Kumbha are the occasions when millions of people gather to take holy dip in the sacred waters. This is main reason for one to attend the Maha Kumbha and the Ardha Kumbha festival. It is believed that a holy dip in sacred rivers during Maha Kumbh or Ardh kumbh takes human out of the circle of life and death and one attains Moksha. Devotees, saints/sadhus turn up in great number from all over the world to take a dip in the holy waters of rivers like the Ganges, Yamuna and the mythological Saraswati at Parayag (Sangam). According to traditions these holy rivers offers purity, wealth, fertility and wash away the sins of all those who take bath.

Kumbha mela (or the Kumbha fair) is one of the largest fairs in the world.. though i've never attended any Kumbha myself..but i've heard that it is one of the best spiritual experiences, one can get..
individuals (mostly Hindus) of every part of the world congregate for taking a holy dip in the pious waters of River Ganges.

It takes place in either of the four places viz.
Haridwar (Uttaranchal), (Banks of River Ganga)
Allahabad (Prayag, Uttar-pradesh), (Banks of River Ganga)
Ujjain (Madhya-Pradesh) (Banks of River Shipra)
Nashik (Maharashtra) (Banks of River Godavari)

The IPL-3 and the issue regarding Pakistani Players

it has been widely covered in the media these days that pakistani players were kept out of the IPL auction this time around.. even when they are current T-20 champions..

some people from our neighbouring country were very fast in lamenting that it has been done on the advice of Government of India just to teach them a lesson or two....but it seems a very childish allegation 'cuz they are not the policy makers in the Government of India that they are knowing who is taking what decision..

Again what media is trying to tell us is that it was a collective decision of the franchisee owners....which can be accepted because IPL is a kind of club cricket whereby the decision of who will be the team-members and who will be the captain, coach etc. is being taken by the franchisee ownners.
Shilpa Shetty (co-owner of Rajasthan Royals) was correct in saying that as a team owner, it is their responsibility to look for the safety and security of their team and if they find that it is difficult for them to provide adequate security to certain players then why should they opt for them ?

even i would like to agree on her saying....just imagine a scenario whereby some of the pakistani players get hurt due to some untoward incidents then again there will be problems brewing up between the two nations.

I dunno what made Mr. Shah Rukh Khan to say that he wanted to take Pakistani players in his team.... if he wanted to take them then why didn't he bid for them in the auction.... if he could have provided all the necessary security to the concerned individuals, he should have made a bid for them.
To comment on certain things after that thing gets over and you were not able to do it at that time itself is idiotic....and Mr. Khan is acting in that manner only.

Also after going through a news item on the internet that Sohail Tanveer (a pakistani bowler) said in an Interview in a pakistani channel after the IPL snub..that "Hinduon ki zahaniyat aisi hi hoti hai" (Hindus are like this only)

I feel it is one of the correct stance taken by the IPL franchisee owners to not to include such idiotic religious fanatics in the garb of players to enter in our country.

Differentiations....

Differentiation.... is one feeling in the human-beings which has been pursued since ages....
just to show that their clan or community is better than the "others"
There are many types of differentiation being done these days on various lines....but i am moved by one which is increasing day by day in the financial hub of our county.....Mumbai.
The Shiv-Sena and the MNS....waging a war of words and speaking rubbish things, just to gain some votes and gain some political mileage and clout.... they don't understand that such differentiations will not only hamper the country's growth but also will be detrimental for Mumbai and Mumbaikars as many industries too will shy away from investing in such a place where such a "state based differentiation" persists.....
I feel that must be one of the reasons of TATA taking its Nano project to Gujarat, by-passing Maharashtra which was a front-runner in getting that project after the Singur crisis....

Its high time now and the "Marathi Manoos" should understand the need of all inclusive growth....'cuz growth can never happen in isolation....be it regional or religional......

For instance: US and some of the European countries made tremendous growth because of all-inclusive approach whereas Saudi-Arabia with all its Petroleum reserves is still nowhere in the growth stage and is heavily dependent on many nations for various aspects......

Zardari vows to wage ‘100-yr ideological war’ over Kashmir

The link:

What a stupid and idiot fellow Zardari is..
instead of trying to find some way of resolving an issue, he the so-called head of a failed state is making a comment which will take his country no-where but in an abyss for not only 100 years; but more than 100's of years....

COSAN

My deary Diary.....
after a long gap here i am....again with some of ma rantings....
There are so many incidents happening around the globe which is purely related to what can be termed as "Racial Bias"....and everytime the issue is aggravated the culprits are the so called "whites" who in their make belief world think themselves to be the most superior race of human beings.....
But if we'll observe that what is the reason behind their fancies, then it becomes quite clear that it is the basic difference of opinions within certain races which emboldens those so called "whites" think about their supremacy..... since the days when apartheid and human labour was in vogue these so called "whites" tried to feast on the differences underlying within certain racial groups.....For instance....a few centuries back they were using the difference of opinions between the Negroites and were using them for their benefits.....but ever since the anti-apartheid campaign gained pace......this whole perception and differentiation ceased to exist between the Africans and the westerners......but this has made the whole African continent to lag behind the world, and this lagging is for a great amount of time.....
But the silverlining is that....atlast they have made one of them to be elected as the most powerful man in the white-house.....

Upto this part it was okay.....okay because we, the south asians were not involved......But the eyes of those differentiators on racial lines are now coming and have set on the subcontinental region.....
This has happened because of the simmering differences between our south asian nations.....we are fighting every-now and then on petty issues and this whole series of blame-game is going on continuously since very many years.....we are so much involved in our differences that we are not able to look beyond that.....that these differentiators/fascists are trying to encircle us and engulf us.....The Chineese, Americans, English, Australians, Israelis....they are all trying to pounce on us to get their greatest amount of share of our flesh.....
I dunno what for South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) is there and what is it doing.....but i believe that the subcontinent nations should form a confederation......Confederation of South Asian Nations (COSAN) with independent governments and single defence force as well as currency.....
It may seem as a day-dreaming exercise or an impossible reality....but to remain a potent force or become a superpower....it is the need of the hour......
The racial biases meted out to the Indians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, Bangladeshis, Nepalis and Bhutanese can only be absolved in this way.....
*United we stand....divided we fall*

Who knows probably then we can have a "person of subcontinental origin" presiding the White House or staying at 10 Downing Street !!!!
